prrrrrrrrrt-ow prrrrrrrrrrt-ow
well much drama was to be had yesterday. there was much melee at the benihanas
I’ve been searching for a pc non-offensive way of describing events at ‘hanas’ but i can’t; maybe lu can.
LETS JUST SAY THAT pauls diplomatic skills came into use. nuff.
then it was off to trader sams and lingba
it was ridiculous cause we also tried to go to hukilau
but paulie couldn’t park and we got shot prrrrrrrrt-ow.
so we ended up at lingba and parked by a schizophrenic person who was so rockin out.
that was maybe not as crazy as i could have described it, but i leave that to lu

RIAA about to sue hundreds of uploaders, using DMCA
via boing boing
society is becoming much more monitored and sanitized.
watch out all you normal people cause soon (and i mean soon you may not be normal).
and they/them/those people will begin to legislate against what you consider normal activities.
or start to serially litigate against normal citizens for participating in free market economy or “normal” religious activities.
i wish i had a link to that state skit with the ice cream truck people talking about the free market economy oh but i do.
but we must be vigilant for we are edging towards
actionable social limitations on normal citizens- rev-olu-tion!

Express Yourself
Gabe, double ii Piia’s 15 month old son,
can do sign language.
It’s a riot to see how he can say please, thank you
and most importantly - MORE!
(pics to follow soon)

Got me thinking on how we all communicate
with each other.

The other day, Chris was teasing Bobby
and I about our habit of using the word
“thing” for every little thing.
It’s our multi-purpose noun, adjective,verb…
as in, “Babe, go get that thing on the table”
pretty standard, even though there’s 15 things
as usual, on the dining room table …
or more likely, “I’m feeling kinda thing right now”
and he’ll know that it’s time to go home

We don’t do it as much nowadays, as we are
so in tune, he can almost guess what I need/want
before I can even think to articulate it.

But communicating with each other isn’t
always easy. And I am a lazy talker (as evidenced
by the “thing” catchall phrase). Bob said
something that really caught my attention.
He said don’t apologize to me
for things that you really don’t care about.
I’d rather you be straight up and disagree
with me, than to just say sorry when you don’t mean it

And it made me think about mindlessly agreeing with
things, or saying something to just get by, get along,
or cuz your not fully paying attention to something

That’s not really communicating is it?

And then there’s this type of communication.
Do you know that I am the type of person
who usually “pre-writes” the messages
I write in birthday cards?
So it usually takes me ages to
write my blog posts …

But a big part of this is cuz I use this space to marshall
my thoughts and put together a public show of my
ideas, etc. Everyone does it, in real life, not necessarily on a blog.
it’s just funny when you think you are expressing yourself,
but it’s such a small slice of who you are or what you think.
Self-editing, or filtering …..

Like there are chunks of my life, obviously,
that certainly don’t get published to the world
or even discussed among friends, or rather
even contemplated on my own…
In short, sort of a, uh, thing.

But it makes one think about how
we compartmentalize our lives, our thoughts
even ourselves.

All I wanna know is what’s the sign language
gesture for “thinking too many thoughts so
early in the morning?”

Preggers week 18

Preggers week 18
Bedrest week 7

It’s 7:45 pm and the drone of the lawnmower is a soothing buzz in the background.
My honey, is attacking the lawn after whipping up eggs and steak and rice.
That’s right this baby likes it’s protein, and my hubby is amazing.

Kicking Around
And this kid can kick. Healthy heartbeat, interrupted by 4-5 kicks
during my doc appt. this morning.
My doc and midwife make me laugh.
Last week, we chatted with my midwife about Belle
and various doggy health issues.
This week my doc talked about my recent eBay purchases
(10 brand new eyeshadows for $9.90 incl. s/h)
more than anything else.
I guess I should start talking to them about the kid ….
S/He is doing well and for that we are blessed.

My brain and body seemed to have slowed down
to bedrest pace, which I am glad.
Maybe as the kicker gets more active,
my body is compensating. Either that,
or I’m recovering from . . .

Movie Weekend

Netflix came in handy, as I made it thru Cabaret Friday afternoon.
Thought I’d get used to Liza Minelli’s eyelashes. Didn’t.

Friday night’s movie was good. A purloined copy of
Bend it Like Beckham (the last of the p2p downloads)
and some interesting chair dancing by Bob and Chris
to it’s Indian-Techno Pop soundtrack
as well as the expected suggestive
Bend THIS like Beckham comments

That was good for Bob, was one of the times
this weekend he seemed relaxed for a sec…

Endured Drumline Saturday afternoon.
Synopsis? Varsity Blues about a black college band.
Uh, hmmmm, uh. Pluses? No slow clap.

Mulholland Drive
was a good Sat. nite movie.
Bob and I were evenly divided on who was hotter,
he votes for Aussie blonde, Nicole’s pal, naomi watts
and I liked the slinky brunette, laura elena harring
Whatever to the mind game aspect of the movie,
film noir or whatever
it’s all about two hot chickies.

Sunday afternoon sent us to Casa Armijo Sr.
for filling italian zucchini, a ton of chicken and steak and lo mein.
Yum. Makes me full thinking about it.

Maybe a little too full to sit thru
78 action packed minutes of Phone Booth
Who in the world thought that a man in a phone booth
a whole movie maketh?
Yummy, Colin is yummy.

And then, the ultimate of ultimates.
Sex in the City’s Season Premiere.
We watched it twice thru, once at 9
and then the tape with Beth and her
assorted pasta pomodoro tidbits.

The strawberries were to die, the writing on
SITC a little forced, but better than anything else that’s
out there on TV and seeing Aidan with a baby was a shock
that prevented the spinach ravioli with the gorgonzola sauce
from sliding into my mouth, for a brief moment.

As I was chewing on the pasta, and the neat way the writers
disposed of Aidan, I was a bit perturbed by his denim on denim outfit.

Bad, just bad. But bring on the Berger. not Kerouac.
And tell the kid to work on the penalty kicks, so s/he can bend this.

Monday minutia for your reading pleasure.

“I can’t do it all by myself, I’m no Super-MOM
- Theme Song from Scrubs (with minor modification)

That which amuses, entertains and uplifts me are people (duh) and most of my posts are about the people in my “neighborhood” virtual or otherwise …

And the realization that I couldn’t do, been doing, continue to be on BEDREST with the support of my friends and family …

Thus, today I salute you for keeping me sane with your amazing but true stories from the outside world, and helping this baby continue to bloat my tummy, eat me well out of my once cherished size 10 Gap jeans and learn infinite patience.

Here’s 5 Friday Fivers for your fun and fame:

SPECIAL GUEST STARS at BRC
1. My baby sis - for her unprecedented bout of domesticity at Bed Rest Central, general hang-out-ness, not to mention the masses of Jollibee food consumed, in direct contrast to Edna’s 12 lb, four inch weight loss. She rocks!
2. Beth and her mystically tanned toned abs. Thank goodness baby ‘mijo has a chance at those genetics….
3. Chris and Diane. HE: Looking good, great hospital stories to tell, reading labels. SHE: great emails, cheery attitude, an amazing help to the Godlewski cause…
4. Paulie , bearing the much desired Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar, and his outrageous Frontier Airlines ticket escapades. Good Luck and Godspeed . . .
5. Lu and the lingering scent of Popeye’s chicken and pecan pie. Rexie got to the red beans and rice first, but I scored the hidden cajun mashed potatoes. Yeeee-ummmm!

BABY ARMIJO FACTOIDS
1. At almost 19 weeks, 9 ounces and 8.5 inches long, the size of a big banana
2. Has grown individual and unique fingerprints and toe prints
3. Been known to gurgle in tummy around Everyone Loves Raymond time
4. Scarfs down pasta, esp. lasagna, and lives on mangos
5. Loves to be awake at 2 am, but asleep at 2 pm

NIFTY THINGS
1. Bobby bringing home Belle from hospital stay, Bobby getting an atta-boy at work, Bobby bringing home money order for eBay purchase, Bobby visiting Chris and guitar looking, Bobby bringing home 3 candybars to share.
2. Note from Joe McFeely who starts with Stan Knight at Genentech this week
3. Shy and Victor’s surprise visit and the Jubilee soundtrack. They rock, gospel style
4. Nay and Pia’s followup hello calls . . . Yes, to the garage sale, Perhaps to the shower …
5. My first three Netflix rentals: Secretary, Drumline and Cabaret

TV, the BR COMPANION
1. Love, the blossoming Dawson’s Creek romance (at last) between gruff, glib Pacey and precocious (sometimes annoyingly so) Joey
2. Hate, the fact that I am gonna watch Paradise Hotel no matter what the contestants look like
3. Love, Real World Paris. Not only do you get glimpses of one of the prettiest cities in the world, you get to look at Christina and wonder if yours were fake, would they look that good?
4. LOVE/HATE - Love the comic pop-ness of FAME finals, can’t decide who looks weirder standing next to each other N’Sync’s Joey or Orignal Fame’s Debbie Allen … LOVE the filipina, Nia Peeple-ish girl, HATE that she can’t really sing or dance
5. Love, Made in Paris. Ann Margaret movie where she shimmys, shakes and manages to get the guy, or two or three

THINGS TO LOOK FORWARD TO
1. Veronica getting a Dr. Appt to look at her 3 week cough, and an email to prove it
2. Pia ordering our RE book, and finally cracking that text open
3. Rex winning at love-love, on or off the tennis courts
4. More entertainment than I can possibly imagine
5. Another week to cross off towards a healthy, happy baby…

Only 159 days to go!

Ellen’s Future E! Appearance

Kate Beckinsale gets engaged to director Len Wiseman
Just another entertainment gossip column item right?
Oh but wait, that’s Len and me in the 8th grade.
(My peach shirt and matching hair bow rock!)

Len is a former Thornton Jr. High Thunderbolt, who
with his expertly pegged jeans, and sperry topsiders
(no socks of course) and his slightly asymetrical but
perfectly moussed hair, was one of the hotties of Jr. High

What a trip to see what your former classmates are up to.
Underworld, starring Kate, is Len’s big film directorial debut.
He’s been out in Hollywood for a while, doing music videos
and smaller films but this is his red carpet moment.
(according to Mel and Chel, my Jr. High scoop sources)

Geez, one day I could be one of those random people
on an E! entertainment television show going
“When Len was in the 7th grade …”
He was a sweetie then, and I’m sure he’s still one now.

If I could get outta this bed, you know I’d be at
Century 25 in line for Underworld tickets right now
Gotta support the Thunderbolts!!

Wed 6/16/03

Fascinating Fornication
It’s all Lu’s fault. Check me into the Paradise Hotel.

CONCEPT: Supposedly attractive people hook up at a fresh hotel,
and if they don’t “hook up” they get kicked off the show

LOCATION: The Casa Arabesque in Playa Del Carmen, Acapulco Mexico
home of Spanish Soap Opera “Amigas y Rivales”, and some past
James Bond movie

WHAT I THINK: These peeps should barely be on TV, let alone capture
my attention for an hour. But they did, cuz I got lured into the premier
episode by Lu and a box of Popeye’s Chicken.

Lu should just have her own travel show with Bob doing guest
star stints about random bands and Paulie doing man on the scene segments.

Typical episode: Lu opens in some really mundane place, like an office cube
in Czechoslovokia or something comparing keyboards or mouse pads
and then proceeds to rock out at various bars and clubs.
Ask her about climbing club cages in Spain ….

Then Bob does a segment on new Czech hip hop bands and follows with
random translations of foreign lullabies while strumming on his guitar

In the meantime, Paulie’s running around the country doing things
like getting Mystic Tans, doing Czech karaoke, or trying to sell cell phones.

Last random TV thought
Why are all the N’syncers doing really weird TV gigs?
Joey’s the host on Fame, looking way too Fat-one,
JC just did a lame-o interview with Charlie’s Angel cast,
with floppy foo foo hair
don’t forget the failed astronaut Lance
and the ugly one - Danny Wood - oh wait that’s NKOTB
Chris Kirkpatrick

These are the days of my life.

Tues 6/17/03

A Psychosomatic Puppy
So the dog, as you can see from Bob’s posts, is doing better.
She just has a few more Barbie-like accessories.
After a night at the Vet’s, (Central Vet are Pros)
IV, Xray, antibiotic and Pepcid drip she was sent home
with a clean bill of health. Belle’s diagnosis?
nausea, upset tummy and unrelenting, unreleased gas.

Honestly, if she wasn’t already fixed,
one would think she was preggers.
So the only reasonable explanation
is that she had empathy pains for her mama.

But worrying about her, relieved a bunch of my
self-centered angst and this week has gone by quickly.

Helped tremendously by my great network of friends,
via email (Marlene’s quirky preggers insights), random phone calls
(Brian’s promise to whoop me into shape anytime I’m feeling sad sack)
my awesome siblings
(Na’ s shopping, cooking, garbage throwing and napping excursion
and Rexie’s continued DSL usage and general support)
this week has been a week of fun small moments.

Bobby has been posting some amusing things on the blog.
It’s so funny that we talk and see each other but the stuff
he puts on there is so different than the stuff we talk about.
And he still calls me at least twice a day, everyday - and
remembers to bring me treats in addition to completing all the
“Honey Do’s” I love this guy.

The best is when we have to give Belle her medicine twice a day.
She has two mini droppers, two tiny bottles of medicine
(one crystal clear, one Barbie pink)
and special pork and bean like prescription food.
It makes us work together as a team to guzzle nutrients
into our precious pup. It’s rather sweet.

I’m off to eat some candy bars that the honey brought home….

best song ever
They’re tearing up streets again.
They’re building a new hotel.
The Mayor’s out killing kids to keep taxes down,
and me and my anger sit folding a paper bird,
letting the curtains turn to beating wings.
Wish I had a socket-set to dismantle this morning.
And just one pair of clean socks. And a photo of you.
When you get off work tonight, meet me at the construction site,
and we’ll write some notes to tape to the heavy machines,
like “We hope they treat you well. Hope you don’t work too hard. We hope you get to be happy sometimes.”
Bring your swiss-army knife, and a bottle of something, and I’ll bring some spraypaint and a new deck of cards.
Hey I found the safest place to keep all our tenderness. Keep all our bad ideas. Keep all our hope.
It’s here in the smallest bones, the feet and the inner-ear. It’s such an enormous thing to walk and to listen.
I’d like to fall asleep to the beat of you breathing in a room near a truckstop on a highway somewhere.
You are a radio. You are an open door. I am a faulty string of blue christmas lights. You swim through frequencies. You let that stranger in, as I’m blinking off and on and off again.
We’ve got a lot of time. Or maybe we don’t, but I’d like to think so, so let me pretend.
These are my favourite chords. I know you like them too.
When I get a new guitar, you can have this one and sing me a lullaby.
Sing me the alphabet. Sing me a story I haven’t heard yet.

Perilous Perros and Concert Causalities

friday

So it seems we are at another crazy consternation of fates for the armijo clan. well let me break it down.
Went to BFD(Friday) it was the beat bizzle! got too much sun but it was fun nonetheless.
let me give my mini-review.
Interpol - good
Hot hot heat - good
The Ataris - great
The Donnas - good
BT - wanted to hate cause of the mandatory over the head hand clapping but his matrix inspired tone symphony was like a digital bizzle box
and thats no lie. i know lu usually hates the electronic but i felt as though bt forced the groove into her.(nuff said) Great set!
The Roots - they are hizzle kizzle. they rocked hard and they were by far the loudest.
next we saw the white stripes. if you don’t own ELEPHANT you are hurting yourself.
its like breathing without inhaling; living life without listening to this.
It was an attack. even thought no one was ready for it.
and a lot of people had beach balls to keep track of
and fights to start
and cell phones to throw
and crayons to throw
and railings to jump
and f’in crazy george dancin to do.
they were off the chain and no one short of me and i am sure less than 4 figures even realized.
Meg was smokin in the short shorts and ghostly pale legs. and Jack was as demented and loopy as ever.
but the rock was brought regardless of a couple of creepy pedal/vocoder effects.
So after the melee we left and missed AFI which i hear were cry worthy. se la vie

saturday

kicked it right? if somebody knows what i did holla!
oh well at night i saw chris fer a minute in the evening.
he looked good had some color and some jokes.
wow ‘member bout the heart thing k? i mean any extras send 2 chris c/o rea. tanks
oh yeah paulie and lu saw xtina and justin. yeah yeah whatever

sunday

well alot happened that day. but basically we bbq’ed for my dad and nene lost her car.
so me and beth went to pick up the ALEX and his mom.
it was cool me and beth got to jibba jabba which we don’t always get to do.
got nene and a big breakfast fer ally and we were out.so bbq went ok took bart to colma paulie and the wonder twins picked me up. i got to say i was a little charged . . . Jets to brazil is a good band. i don’t think i realized how good until i saw them live. kick ass.
(oh and by the by if you wear a sock fer five minutes its still clean!) they rocked for like 2 hours.
john vanderslice and whysall lane opened; both what i would call capable.
and Great american music hall was cool too weak drinks though!
Kathleen scared the lead singer for the jets by asking
1 where he would be in late july. and
2 how long did he consider socks to be clean if they touch your foot.
he said no comment and asked her to leave the concert.
but we stayed and rocked at the front of the stage. when i got home belle was sick and ell was sad.
damn!
the only thing i can say is look both ways before you cross kids.

monday

took belle in she weren’t doing good. took elle in normal drs appointment. its all good for the chau.
we got the call on belle in the evening (shes ok just gas) so she stays overnight and gets some fluids and some pepcid.
what! yeah i know but the doc ordered her to be on pepcid. i seen everything now.
i know it don’t seem so but that is the short version i pick up belle today and ellen will be relieved.
thats it for now! peace

Preggers week 17
Bedrest week 6
So I let Week 16 go by without a post
as it’s been hellish inside my head

If not for the kindness of Rex,
the patience of Bob
and the saving grace of Nay and Pia
it would have been the end of my sanity
as we know it …
Others have come as bright spots
through the week
but it took napping and cookies,
and straight talk from the girls
to give me perspective
Here, now in my better frame of mind-ness
are the things I woulda posted for the week -
the hits and picks:

Mon 6/9

SARS SIGHTING

Surprise visit from Lil Lamb
complete with SARS appointed mask
bearing bee-yu-ti-full flowers of
indeterminate species (see above)
Me - still recovering from a weekend
of sick, nausea, sick. This kid is
growing, make no bones about it…

Tues 6/10

CHRIS CONUNDRUM
Chris came thru the angiogram reasonably well
and Diane is with him all the way. It’s a long road
to recovery and I feel for Chris.

I know what he’s gonna feel when he’s outta the hospital
trying to completely change the way he lives.

Wed 6/11

MAYO SUCKS
After eating macaroni-salad for breakfast
(it was like mayonaise soup with bits of macaroni in it)
I get so nauseous I force myself to sleep
for most of the day.
I wake up starving at 1 pm
and freak out
though the house is stocked
with more food in the cupboards
than any time in the last THREE YEARS
there isn’t anything at all I want to eat

Dumping a can of beef portobello mushroom soup
down the drain (oh please, what was I thinking?)
I swim in woe-is-me-ness and general malaise

finally calling in the calvary
and sending bob to molly mcstones
(it’s a good compromise between the
butter substitute and the actual name of the yuppy grocers)
where he walks down each aisle telling me what
they have and describing in detail
the various olive varieties

One would think that a sicky PBRG would be great-full
to the DH (dear husband) but no, been a bear and
plain ole mean to him the whole week

Laying around feeling sorry for myself all day,
completely at the mercy of every ache and pain
with nothing else to focus on
and totally dependent on others to make my days bearable…

This is of course, the breaking point in my head
I want outta this deal
MY pregnancy isn’t supposed to be like this

Where’s the stylish mom-to-be in her sporty Gap maternity gear
selflessly trudging to work, putting in a full day
running home for a dinner that follows the
"What to eat, when you’re expecting guidelines" in minute detail
and then bopping off to a pre-natal yoga class?
Uhhh, that’s what I signed up for.

But God, in his infinite, unpredictable (TO US) vision,
is using this time to really hammer some
stuff outta me
and Bob (through me!)

THUR 6/12

SUSHI and SHOPPING R&R
My brother, who is a SAINT
brings me sushi
Before you freak, it’s all cooked stuff.
CA Roll with cream cheese, regular CA roll and
Tempura roll - okay I only ate the ends cuz it was rolled
in those little orange fish balls
Bob calls in sick and we make covert plans to go shopping.
Nothing like a little retail therapy to help a gal out
(I don’t have a Dr. appt this week,
so I swap some waiting room time for
a little Michael’s Craft $100 shopping spree)
And thank goodness for Heather, who supplied me with
jeans that fit and a bright red, look at my preggers self, sweater
so that I could actually leave the house …
There are many things to be thankful for,
but I could barely function at this point
and was just hanging on for dear life …

FRI 6/13

Tried to setup Ellen-sitters for myself
since Bob was going to BFD concert with Lu all day

but Piia’s Gabe got spots, contagious or not we don’t know
and Jeff and Susan were busy with plans they already had
I sorta let them off the hook (us Lisings, not good with planning, I know)
so I was further woe-full

ENTER STAGE RIGHT …
Renee Wong like a bumble bee who’s buzz is gone,
but the wings still flappin’ like there’s no tomorrow,
complete with a brimming bagful of Papa Wong’s magic cookies.
We laugh, nap, laugh some more and then are entertained
by Rex. (told you he rocks)
WOE LESS
Both Nay and I dissolve in hysterics
as we counsel each other on our various woes
and realize if we just took our own advice,
we would be signficantly
less full of woe.
LET GO, LET GOD
And special guest star was Ms. Pia Nanfito
on time for her, still made it even though
I tried to turn her away
I really needed to see her. She’s a ball of energy
and multi-tasks in her sleep

Bouncing from subject to subject,
projects - work and otherwise
Hope she gets to some lingerie shopping soon

God know what you need, and will contrive to provide
If you’d just let go of what you think you need
and wait for what you really need

So I think I’ve caught up with the week behind … Thank Goodness.

I owe a ton of you email and notes,
and I’m outta the cave
thanks to two nutty chicks,
some good old fashioned Kai Sushi
and a honey that keeps sticking to me, as grumbly bear as I am

so you’ll be hearing from me.

Insert that hokey "sunny side of life" camp song here …

6.6.03 FRIDAY
FIVE FIVERS FOR FRIDAY

I love alliteration (and onomatopoeia, but that’s another day) and all things grammatically quirky.
Noticed a corny trend on most blogs that usually posts lists on Friday (and I don’t resist corn easily)
so here’s the inaugral lists:

5 COOL THINGS
1. Doggy clothing. see yesterday’s post
2. Baby Pet Names you can say in public. I like Punkin… November baby and all
3. Flirting friends and fun fantasy filled lunches, ( Told you I like alliteration) esp. during corporate hours with a “Wiz”
4. People who actually read my posts. That’s you!
5. The seven hours of sleep that I got yesterday. But not today …..

5 BLESSINGS
1. Linda Goodrich calling me out of the blue. Ahhhh, life’s long journey
2. My friend Renee and her ever diligence in calling and seeing me, esp. when her life is chaos - Good chaos though
3. A sweet thank you card for a great gift picked out by the hubby. Heather rocks
4. My husband, my dog. Foundation of my life, smile of my heart
5. My faith, my friends. Where you can always seek joy …..

5 FAVE WATCHED THINGS THIS WEEK
1. The Jack coming out episode - Dawson’s Creek. First he’s not gay and posing naked for Joey, next he is gay and having an explosive Ellen-style confrontation with his dad.
2. Stepford Wives - Daytime Movie/Oxygen. Katharine Ross rocks. Most memorable scene, when she sticks a knife into the robot of her best friend (some Kate Jackson lookalike)
3. A great testimony on the power of prayer in bringing someone back from a coma. - Marilyn Hickey and Pastor Jude Somebody on TBN Network. God’s profoundness is often in the littlest everyday things, but sometimes super miracles really touch the heart
4. Bathroom flooring made out of real individual pebbles - Designing for the Sexes/HGTV. the new ones without Michael Graves, he’s a bit tired
5. The Charlie’s Angels “Ass” Sequence - MTV Awards. The cheeks speak for themselves

5 DUMB THINGS HEARD OR INFERRED
1. Counseling is a waste of time. If I knew the person better, woulda ripped their head off.
Oh wait, that’s the only one this week, cuz it still makes me mad to think about it……

5 MISC. PREGGER/BABY THOUGHTS & THINGYS
1. Not only do they have nipple cream, they have plastic guards to protect the milk duds. Whoah, the power of plastic
2. Baby blanket snuggly. Blanket poncho that the baby zips into. Protects agains SIDS and makes them into the ultimate bean bag
3. Incandescent Lighting is better for babies than Halogen. It’s softer, soothing lighting and the bulbs are safer and don’t get as hot.
4. Bedrest = the okaying of ecological waste. Plastic cups and paper plates all the way. If you come to visit, feel free to bring some blue party cups with you.
5. God willing, Bobby and I are gonna be parents. Whoah…

a little quirky, a little profound, a lot irreverent …the lists/the girl - BRPG

6.5.03 THUR

My LOL moment. Give a girl time and a funny link from the hubby and cha-ching - dog clothes online. www.trixieandpeanut.com

I laid on BRO (bed rest oasis - the couch covered in a green furry blanket to prevent any more internet-surfing-chafed-elbow) for 15 minutes laughing my head off.

#1 reason to learn how to knit. Belle, you are in so much trouble.

Lu’s gonna kill me. She’s not been a fan of the animal-wear.
Who knows, this trip to Europe may have broadened her horizons.
In many more ways than this one….or so the email says.

I miss that girl.

6.4.03 WED

Ohhhh kay, talk about being a techie.
Got my ebay account setup, and I’m “watching” auctions now and just placed my first bid on some preggers books.
10 books with a starting bid of $5! Geez, talk about a bargain. The book that I really want is “Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy” and that book alone retails for like $10.95. Score! We’ll see how we do with the actual purchasing and whatnot. And one of the books I ordered on Amazon is shipping. Woohoo

Hmmmmm, keep an eye on me that I don’t become one of those insane internet/catalog/mail order shopping junkies.

There’s a great movie where this guy impersonates a shrink and moves into a small town, the name of which he chooses as his last name …. and Jason Lee is in it as a software company guru and the shrink guy solves everybody’s problems using common sense and he helps another patient using comic book therapy. I keep thinking Pleasantville, but that’s so not it….. (this is what it’s like when I try to describe songs too)

Babe, feel free to insert the name of the movie here: Mumford if you know what I’m talking about, you always do!

Anyway - One of the ladies had a house full of crap that she ordered and didn’t ever even open. And she would order two of everything just to be safe. Insert psychobabble about attempting to fill the hole with material possessions here.

Not to get all preachy, but the only way to get “filled” is through your relationship with God and the joy you seek walking with him. In between steps though, check out the bargains on eBay.

TUES
Who knew it was already June! Yikes and my mommy’s birthday is on Saturday. It’s all good - one thing that a pregnant, bed-ridden girl can do is make phone calls. Wha-bam, insta-party. Bob’s being a trooper about it and is okay with the whole thing as long as I don’t try to set up any chafing dishes or offer to walk Rexie’s dogs while we’re there….Good thing both our parents live 5 minutes away from us….

SIGHTINGS
My mama-in-law came to visit bringing a Tuna sandwich and Doritos. Have I told you I love this woman? Ahhhhh tuna, the forbidden fish. Something about mercury levels or something. And I crave it constantly. Chicken salad is NOT THE SAME. I figure once every two weeks shouldn’t be tooo bad. Debbie is the ultimate mom. She managed to cheer me up from this not sleeping thing. And I caught an hour and a half nap after she left (upping yesterday’s total sleep time to 4 hours, 45 minutes)

SLEEP
Among the many things that I am not allowed/supposed to do, SLEEP IS NOT ONE OF THEM. One would think that one confined to her house (not quite house arrest, but really now - with 3 Targets (1 Greatland) within a 10 mile radius of the house might as well put the cuffs on) you would think that the PBRG (Preggo Bed Rest Gal) would be napping left and right. Well, not the case.

As it’s 3:48 am, now (yes Bob still posts these for me) and I’ve just completed my first successful Amazon purchase….. online shopping - not the same as the real thing, but thank goodness for the internet (created by and for insomniacs) ….. sleep isn’t quite working out for me. My midwife suggested Benedryl before bed, but tried it once, didn’t work, may resort to it again - but in the meantime found some great online suggestions:
insomina . .
insomina-2 . .

Gee, the internet just bursts with great ideas. But you know I’ll be wiggling my toes in a few minutes. Wish me luck ….

Monday
Usually I don’t notice the weather much. I’m usually spreadsheeting and powerpointing away in my climate controlled cube farm. But bedrest is the great aware-ness maker. It’s pretty hot in here and I’m a bit sticky.

Could also be the fact that I was trying to sunbathe for 40 minutes. Always attempt the chaise lounge flip very carefully. Needless to say, the pregnant girl flipped, the flimsy lounger flopped and that was the end of that.

SIGHTINGS
This weekend was Matrix weekend. Saw the first one again Sat. night w/ bobby and paulie, then Reloaded on Sunday night thru the powers of P2P and my excellent husband. Yum, as long as Keanu doesn’t talk, it’s all good. Seeing movies with paulie adds a whole other dimension. There’s all kinds of dialogue and observation that isn’t onscreen, but is oh so enjoyable.

Saw Joyce on Friday. She brought me belly cream. Ahhhh the things that mommies know. Funny enough, halfway to our house she had to go back and feed baby Nathan. But being the trooper, she came back and we were able to visit in between feedings. She Rocks!

Rex got my phone hooked up in the room, praise his
MacGyver self.
Just cuz he is a technological, electronical, automotival (okay, he’s the family chauffeur without fail) genius doesn’t mean he’s got to do it, but we are so glad he hooks it up ….

It’s preggers week 16, bedrest week 4 - welcome to my world.
